HIPAA General Overview
As a worker in the healthcare industry, you are affected by the Administrative Simplification Requirements of HIPAA. You are required by law to follow these rules. In 2009, the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act (ARRA) made changes to HIPAA. Individuals who obtain protected information without authorization can face criminal penalty. This includes employees at a hospital and Long-Term Care Facilities. This course will help you comply with HIPAA. After completing this course, you should be able to identify covered entities under HIPAA; list eight electronic health transactions covered by HIPAA and the medical code sets to be used for these transactions; recognize safeguards required by HIPAA to ensure the security and integrity of electronic health information; identify the unique employer identifier used under HIPAA; and distinguish between uses and disclosures of health information that are and are not allowed under the HIPAA Privacy Rule.
 
OSHA Compliance & Inspections
This course provides a general overview of basic topics related to OSHA and how it operates. This course will provide you with (1) a general overview of basic topics related to the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) and how it operates; (2) a general overview of basic topics related to OSHA and how it conducts inspections to assure compliance with OSHA requirements and help employers and workers reduce on-the-job hazards and prevent injuries, illnesses and deaths in the workplace; (3) a general overview of employer rights and responsibilities following a Federal OSHA inspection; and (4) a general overview of worker rights under the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970 (OSH Act).
 
Compliance and Patient Care
This course provides essential information for veteran clinical healthcare staff. In this course, the participant will review and update knowledge of Compliance and Ethics ~ Corporate Compliance, Medical Ethics, and Sexual Harassment; Patient Rights ~ Confidentiality, Patient Participation in Treatment Decisions, Disclosure and Informed Consent, Advance Directives, Access to Emergency Service, Respect, Safety, and Nondiscrimination, and Grievances; and Patient Care and Protection ~ Developmentally Appropriate Care, Cultural Competence, Restraint and Seclusion, Patient Assault and Abuse in the healthcare setting and Victims of Abuse and Neglect.
 
Workplace Safety & Emergency Preparedness
This course provides essential information for veteran clinical healthcare staff. In this course, the participant will review and update knowledge of Safety ~ General Safety, Fire Safety, Electrical Safety, Radiation Safety, MRI Safety, Ergonomics, Back Safety, Lifting and Transporting Patients, Slips, Trips, and Falls, Latex Allergy, Hazard Communication, Security & Workplace Violence, and Reporting Incidents; Emergency Preparedness ~ Disaster Events and Emergency Response Plans; and Infection Control ~ Healthcare-Associated Infection (HAI), Hand Hygiene, Antibiotic Resistance, The Bloodborne Pathogens Standard, Standard Precautions, Transmission Based Precautions, Personal Protective Equipment, and Personal Responsibility.
